JCMS students in Ms. Wieneke, Mrs. Shalley, Mr. Kirby, and Mrs. Goetten’s homeroom classes were treated with a trip to McCarry’s Dairyland today for being the top classes in chocolate sales! We had a very successful fundraiser and appreciate the support of our community to provide field trips, equipment, and learning resources to our students!

Students from Grafton Elementary learned about Fire Safety this week. Several volunteer fire fighters from QEM explained what to do during a fire. Make sure your family practices fire drills at home, too!

JCMS E Sports!
This week at JCMS, we are finishing up E Sports try-outs for our competitive gaming team. Coached by Mr. Sleik and Mr. Kirby, the team will practice and compete after school on a daily basis. The team will compete in three seasons this year with the first season being Rocket League - “a high powered hybrid of arcade-style soccer and vehicular mayhem!” Students will be learning about team work, sportsmanship, as well as skill development. We are very thankful for the grant funding that has allowed JCMS to offer this opportunity to our students!

Please join the JCHS Varsity Dance Team for a fun filled night of games and support the team! Details are on the flyer. See you there!

Attention JCHS Seniors and Parents:

Intro to Design students have been learning to double crochet PUMPKINS! For most, this is their time crocheting ever! Students also learned about the creative design process which explains when learning a new skill that is difficult, unfamiliar, and frustrating, it’s easy and common to quit. Most are “hooked” now! 😉

Amy Benton, realtor and owner of Century 21 in Jerseyville, coordinated a field trip to walk students through the home buying process and career knowledge too. Students experienced presentations from Brian Stewar and his assistant from Jerseyville Banking Center, Kent Hake from Bee Sure Home Inspector Services, and Todd Parish - practicing lawyer at Colonial Title & Escrow. Thank you for your time and sharing your expertise!
This opportunity was extended to all JCHS Seniors through our Workforce Development Program.
