Grafton Elementary 50s Fun Day!
Happy 50th Day of School!
Our students had a blast dressing up in their 1950s best today. It's amazing how much fun a little bit of nostalgia can bring.

Mrs. Nurnberger, the librarian paraprofessional at West and Grafton elementaries, visited the Clark Family Branch of the St. Louis Public Library to meet Lauren Tarshis, the famous author of the beloved I Survived book series. Copies of the author's new book, I Survived the B lack Death, were purchased for Grafton, East, and JCMS libraries, and Tarshis signed her name to each one. The doors to the event opened at 5:30 and Mrs. Nurnberger was #12 in line. In fact, they had to turn people away, as close to 700 people showed up to the event! Thank you, Mrs. Nurnberger for caring about books, literacy, and most importantly, our students!

Congratulations to Sophia Bracho for placing 7th at the Lancer Invitational at Belleville East!

Today the JCMS PAWS program had our first community speaker. Jersey County States Attorney Ben Goetten spoke with students on the importance of being safe and making good choices. Thank you Mr. Goetten!

JCMS Students and Staff had a great day celebrating the end of the quarter with their quarter 1 reward, a cookout. Students who had passing grades, good attendance, and good behavior were rewarded with an extra long lunch and recess in which staff served them a fun meal outside. We are proud of our students and their accomplishments.

Dennis Matthew, author of How Grizzly Found Gratitude, visited East, West, and Grafton Schools! He captivated students and staff with his inspiring story and even performed a special song! 🎶 Our young readers learned valuable lessons about gratitude and how it can lead to a more fulfilling life. 💖
A huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Jerseyville, the Jerseyville Public Library, and the grant funds that made this incredible experience possible! ✨
