Matilynn Thornsbury, Jersey County Queen, paid a visit to West Elementary Kindergarten Classes. She read a book to students and helped make a holiday craft. Her love for kids really shined! These kiddos absolutely loved listening to her read and was mesmerized by her royalty! Thanks so much Queen Matilynn!



JCMS Student Council held a canned food drive and they brought in over 2400 cans! Proud of all these kids do to help support our community.

JCMS Panther Kidz Club has had a wonderful week. Students finished up Stranger Danger and broke boards with Mr. Ron and had a Maker’s session.




JCMS goes to Stadium Theater!




West Elementary has the BEST kitchen staff!!! Not only did Mrs. Heafner and Mrs. Ontis fix a delicious holiday dinner yesterday--they took time out of their busy schedule and made ornaments with our students!!!

JCMS Panthers Wrestling:
In their home opener on the season, the JCMS wrestling team had a great night on the mats! After a back and forth 57-47 loss to Collinsville, the Panthers took down East Alton - Wood River 77-30!



The Treble 3 choir, under the direction of Margaret Bear, sang Christmas Carols at the Liberty Village Nursing Home today. The students did a tremendous job, and everyone loved the carols. The Treble 3 Chair also delivered handmade cards from the JCHS Media Center and Maker Space. The students at JCHS made over 75 cards for the residents.




Sixth Grade Students in Mr. Madson and Mr. Strauch's Classes got to apply their coding knowledge this week. The students coded drones to make a delivery following a given path. The students enjoyed the challenge and loved watching their drone fly.



JCMS 7th grade student Quintin Ottwell was presented with an award by Chad Sibley from the Alton VFW for submitting the winning essay for the Patriot’s Pen contest! Quintin’s essay will now move in to the district competition!

Challenge accepted! Students in Mrs. Noble’s 3rd grade class were challenged with getting out of their comfort zone and reading more chapter books by being given a chapter book challenge. Students so far have read 215 chapter books in the one month since starting the challenge. Jaxon and Amelia are tied with the most by each reading 19 chapter books so far!
