JCHS Theater Department held its annual camp last week. It was a great turnout where students sang, danced, acted, snacked, and explored behind the scenes of the theater. The campers finished the week with a well-attended performance showcasing songs from Elvis and The Little Mermaid, preparing for the 2025/2026 Theater season of “Who Killed Elvis” and “The Little Mermaid”.

We had such a fun time at today’s Reading in the Park! 📚💙
A big thank you to Lisa Beuttel for reading Do Not Wish for a Pet Ostrich—the kids loved it! The Arts Council brought the book to life with the cutest craft, and Bluey from the Jerseyville Public Library even stopped by to say hi! 🐾📖
We’re sending a BIG thank you to the Jerseyville Rotary Club for the delicious ice cream sandwiches 🍦 and to Bob Manns and the City of Jerseyville Street Department for fencing off Rotary Park to help keep our kiddos safe. While the rain moved us indoors, your support made the event a success. Thank you to everyone who helped make today so special! 💛

West Elementary students are LOVING our Summer Enrichment program! Today students learned about rainbows and then made a rainbow! Students learned all about rainbows and color mixing while working on fine motor skills.

It was a week of discovery for our 8th-grade STEM enrichment at JCHS! Our students explored circuits by powering clocks and lightbulbs with potatoes, honed their coding skills by playing Hot Potato with Spheros, delved into food science by making and comparing homemade chips with store-bought ones, and unearthed fascinating facts about this versatile tuber. It's all about hands-on learning, problem-solving, and sparking that love for STEM!

JCMS students had a great first week of Camp Smart! They kicked things off by using the Beanstack app to track at least 120 minutes of reading. Way to go, readers! Thanks to Mrs. Evans for inspiring us to read more and making reading exciting from day one.
In math, students applied orienteering skills to complete a scavenger hunt, sharpened their multiplication facts, and used ratios to create a delicious snack mix.
In reading, students dove into some great books and brought their stories to life by building creative projects like forts, acorn people, and rafts.
In STEM, students became scientists, conducting hands-on experiments and learning the science behind each reaction. They made ice cream, rock crystal candy, rockets, bouncy eggs, slime, oobleck, volcanoes, rainbows using capillary action, and so much more. Students also played games that promoted good communication skills and teamwork. We ended the week in the Esports lab playing Minecraft, and the students loved it!
It’s been a fantastic start, and we can’t wait for more fun and learning ahead!

🌧️ Rain couldn’t stop the fun at today’s Reading in the Park — we just brought the fun indoors! 📚✨
Special thanks to Sheriff Manns for reading "What If Everybody Did That?" 👮♂️💬
Our young readers got creative with a matching collage activity, thanks to the Jersey County Arts Council! 🎨🖍️
And we had a surprise visit from none other than Pete the Cat, brought to us by the Jerseyville Public Library! 🐾😺
Thanks to everyone who joined us — see you next week for more stories, crafts, and smiles! 💛📖 #ReadingInThePark #RainOrShine #PeteTheCat
