Jersey CUSD 100

The successful implementation of Jersey's new elementary reading program can be attributed to the enthusiasm of the students and staff.  At Grafton Elementary, students are recognized for independent reading minutes in increments of 100 steps (25 hours) outside of the school day.  As students reach the first 100 steps, their panther paw is added to the Jr. Blue Book Crew Wall of Fame and moved forward when the student reaches the next level.  The Wall of Fame initiative was created and designed by Grafton teachers.  The attention to independent reading has shown to increase reading fluency and comprehension.
