"I only attended Illini Jr High School (what it was called back in the late 70's) my 9th grade year. Coming from St. Francis it was a big change for me, getting to move classrooms, having a different teacher for each subject and meeting all kinds of new friends. My favorite memory was during basketball season. The 9th grade team was separate from the high school program back then. The high school team was traveling to Brussels and didn't have enough players to fill a roster so our coaches were able to get permission for some of our girls to play on the high school team.  We had a great time, won the game, but when we went outside to get on the bus, a snow storm had hit. The school bus was not able to get us home from Brussels due to road conditions. WE were forced to stay the night in Brussels at the high school gym  until morning. The town of Brussels was very gracious bringing us bologna, and chips (that was all the small store had) and some drinks. They were so kind to provide us whatever we needed to make our stay comfortable it was a very fun time and the best memory of my middle school year.

I am looking forward to the beginning of a new school year. I am excited to see all the returning students and getting to know new and different students throughout the school year.
I love to see the growth that our students will make this year and to help them achieve their goals. I am also excited to help them believe in themselves, knowing that they can be or do anything they put their mind to if they are wiling to give it 100 percent.  I look forward to seeing you all soon!"  Beth White - Paraprofessional at JCMS
