JCHS will again run our Winter Semester Final schedule over a four day period beginning Monday, December 16 and continuing through Thursday, December 19. For those students who are absent during one or both of the Final days on Wednesday, December 18 and/or Thursday, December 19, the makeup date will be Friday, December 20. The expanded Final’s schedule allows us to give our second round of MAP tests. The MAP assessment helps us identify our kids academic strengths and challenges, focus instruction, and provide another tool we can use to place students in the appropriate Math, Science, and English courses. Based on our experience giving the MAP test, a regular class period does not provide our students enough time to complete the assessments.
District buses will run at their normal times and JCHS will open at 7:15, as it does each day school is in session. Eighth grade students are required to be at JCHS by 8:05 and remain at JCHS through the end of the school day. JCHS does not take attendance during student lunch periods. Students can choose to study in the school cafeteria or at home. All students are required to attend all classes Monday, December 16 through Thursday, December 19, including study halls.

Friday, December 20 is our Finals makeup day. If JCHS students (8th-12th) complete their Finals on Wednesday and Thursday, they are not required to attend school on Friday. I want to stress that JCHS will open its doors at 7:15 that day and students are more than welcome to attend. We feel it's necessary to build in a make-up day in case the district has to cancel the school day because of inclement weather. Thank you and have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
